This was the second of two stop motion videos and much more of a spur of the moment thing. I had already scrapped two other ideas and was running out of time when I decided to shoot the walk up the stairs facing down, except when I would get to the top, I’d match the last frame at the bottom and do the staircase a couple more times to give the illusion it was higher than the building actually got and to sort of stress the audience out a little. The pantomiming at the ending was supposed to symbolize self destructive tenancies and how they can undermine our best intentions (but really I only decided that once I had an idea for the ending.)

This is the first stop-motion video I made, mostly drawing inspiration from the large graphic lettering outside the classroom and culminating with whatever I could see out of the third-story window. I was trying to selectively focus to blur the cross and keep the building in focus in the ending shot but it proved wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too hard on an iphone so I abandoned that idea for practical reasons. The story progressed as I shot it and I tried to convey a sense of power through the cross and the huge building behind it, I also hoped the lettering would do the heavy lifting in terms of moving something like a story along.
